The Phone Interview... Dun Dun Dun

So I had my phone interview yesterday! I'll preface this by saying this season seems to be a lot different than previous seasons.

My interview lasted about 29 minutes which is only a few minutes longer than Michelle, my interviewer, said it would take. She asked the basic questions, such as Spring or Spring Advantage, confirming my information, etc. Then we got into the meat of the interview.

We discussed how I would feel living with people in an apartment, far from home. We talked about the Disney Look, if I had a valid driver's license, what was my favorite job I've had, and a few other smaller questions.

The big differences were that while I was asked this question, many people have not been asked why they want to do the College Program. I found this interesting, but it seems they're changing a bit of their interview process.

Also, instead of asking which roles are in my Top 3, which I was most interested in for example, she asked which 2 roles I felt I was most qualified for. Hopefully this works in my favor, because I really do feel I'm qualified for a lot of roles, especially merchandise, which was one of the 2 I mentioned.

She asked me a lot of questions about different roles, everything from attractions and vacation planner which were high interest, to lifeguard and character performer, which were moderate and low. She also asked me about guest interaction and how I felt about it fitting into a role.

The biggest change, and we'll see how this ends up panning out, was when Michelle told me that they would be making the majority of hiring decisions in late October. OCTOBER. I guess it's not a huge deal because when apps would drop the first week of September, a lot of people would find out in October, but since they dropped 2 weeks earlier, I hope we don't have to wait that long!

And it looks like it's a possibility that this might take "pending" status out of the equation. We may not get any communication from Disney about this until October. Below is a screenshot of the "Thank you for Interviewing" e-mail I received late last night.

I will be going to WDW in mid-October so I would love absolutely nothing more than to know if I was accepted before I got there. Hopefully I can keep my mind off this within reason until then! I know I have a few ideas for blog posts so I'll still update!

'Til next time!

Applications!

Hey internet!

So, applications dropped a few days ago, and I am soooo excited to start this process again! They went live Wednesday morning around 9am my time, but I managed to hold off until around 12:30pm to apply. The willpower that took was unreal. Triumph of the human spirit, truly.

I got my "Thanks For Applying" e-mail within the hour, then about 10 minutes after that, I got a "Status Update" e-mail basically reiterating the first one. I had never seen this e-mail before so it kind of freaked me out, but I think we collectively figured out that this e-mail was sent out to people who needn't take the WBI because they passed within the past 6 months (y'all like my use of the word 'needn't'?). Within about 2 hours from submitting my application, I got the invitation to schedule a phone interview. Yay!

So I will be doing my phone interview Sunday at 11:45am. I'm ready for it. I've been watching DCP vlogs, getting into the spirit of it. I truly believe this is my time now. I know I have the experience, I know I have the passion. I know I have the work ethic. After working 60+ hours a week for this entire summer, I'm certain I can handle the DCP.

I've met so many amazing people through the Facebook page that I can't stand the thought of not being able to hang out with them in person. So, there's my little update! I'm off to practice my interview questions and watch some more vlogs!

Til next time!

Applying for the College Program

So, to be perfectly honest, I'm getting kind of nervous for this application to drop. I am a textbook "over-preparer", and I don't want to overdo it on preparing for this interview, but it's kind of important to me.

See, I've been wanting to do the college program for about 2 years now. I had a rough start to my freshman year of college, which is when I discovered the DCP. I thought it would be a great escape, and that was about it. Fast forward 2 years later, during which I was accepted to do the Spring 2014 program but ultimately had to turn it down, and I now have so many more reasons for wanting to do the program.

I'm at the point where I really just want to do the program and be down in Florida. I'm not the kind of person who will take on a role they hate for that opportunity though. Especially if I get to do Spring Advantage, I don't think I would be capable of doing certain roles for 8 months without regretting it.

That being said, there are a lot of roles that I do feel I'm qualified for, and I would love to do, so picking a Top 3/4 is incredibly difficult at the moment for me. I am trying my best to at least think of some scenarios they may ask about during the interview, because that tends to be the one thing to trip me up during interviews, not even DCP.

I've done more phone interviews in the past semester due to me applying for summer internships back home while I was still at school, so I feel prepared in the sense that I can still deliver a good impression even though they may not be able to see me. Overall, I feel good about the interview, though I am kind of anxious for it to just happen and be in my rearview window. I think that once I'm done, it'll feel good to have this not hanging over my head. I don't want this to be a missed opportunity for the second year in a row, which is why this is so important to me.

Apps are going to drop anywhere from 1 week-3 weeks from now. Hopefully it'll happen before I start my classes on the 21st! I'll definitely keep this updated!
